Why Printing your Images is so Important
I am posting a link to a short video that was made by a Photographer friend of mine, Bryan Caporicci, who feels the same way as I do about getting your images in print. We all know that with digital media, whether it is CDs, USBs, or hard-drives, don't last last forever. In fact, a few years is all you can safely count on. Do you remember floppy discs? What happened to any of your images that were recorded on floppys?
Once you have a USB of images, what will you actually do with it? They just sit in your computer. They are small, and seem unimportant. They are not displayed for others to appreciate. They have no real impact. Printing insures that your images will last. They become a tangible product, and as the years go by, the appreciation for them increases. With prints on your wall or books on your coffee table, they are viewable whenever you walk by them, which is why we invested in the pictures in the first place, to see them.
Have you ever seen a famous painting in a brochure or online and thought, 'that's nice', and then you go to an art gallery and see the same exact painting on the wall, and it's huge and it hangs there in all it's glory, and it takes your breath away and you get goose bumps!? And all of a sudden this painting has so much more impact and meaning to you? I rest my case...
